In 2010, Diana’s Grove Mystery School will be working with the story of Persephone. It is a story of cycles, and as we all know, part of the wisdom of cycles is that all things come to an end. While it is our intention that Mystery School will continue, Diana’s Grove Center, as you and we have known it, is coming to an end.

details )
Next year we will be working with the story of Persephone. It is a story of cycles, and a fitting end to this cycle of an impossible dream, made manifest for so many years. We plan to re-tell and live out this rich, ancient story through the year, in full and reverent awareness that a beloved form is ending, as well as in joyous celebration of our years together, on this land. We anticipate a year of profound, deep and healing work, intentional farewells, glad welcoming of new Mysteries, and laying the foundation for the continuation of this community, this philosophy, this dream that has touched the lives of so many.

Please join us.

So speaking to MY friends -- If any of you have been curious about the Grove programs... If you have wanted to come but were uncertain... This is the time. Next year may be all there is, on this land, in this form, that so many of us have treasured and loved. The priestess training work and personal growth work that happens during weekend intensives is phenomenal. The land contributes in countless ways to the success of the process, the feel of the community, the ways we all come together. The land itself holds some of the magic. And, quiet but I believe no less important, the land has the privacy to support skyclad labyrinth walks and such physical ways of self-awareness and peace with nature.

One year. One year of Mystery School and open events, and then we will have to say goodbye. Will you join us for the depths of Persephone's story? My tears know that I will be there, working with Persephone, learning to embody hope.

This has been driving me a little nuts all weekend, so please help me if you can.

After I saw Watchmen, it struck me that Ozymandias was very similar to another fictional character, but I can't remember which one it was. I remember feeling that this was a really interesting insight... specifically, this other character is like Ozymandias in the way he (I think it was a he) does terrible things in service of the greater good.

I think it wasn't someone from comics, but I'm not 100 percent sure about that.

Mostly for [info]herbivorous, but possibly of interest to all. Translated by me from a Soviet-era cookbook.

---
We add to the complement of several similar balms these recipes, proposed by the meritorious physician of the RSFSR, doctor of medicinal sciences R. I. Khodanova. In the figures is shown the quantity of tablespoons (5-6 grams) of dry herb in a quantity of 250 grams tea (black or a mixture of black and green).

A good prophylactic against chest colds
(2) St. John's Wort herb
(2) mint leaves
(1) thyme herb
(1) valerian root

For disorders of the nervous system
(2) mint leaves
(1) valerian root
(2) motherwort herb*
(2) oregano herb
(2) marshmallow root
(1) hops cone (crushed)
(2) chamomile flowers

For cardiovascular illnesses
(2) mint leaves
(1) valerian root
(2) motherwort herb*
(1) hawthorn berries
(4) dogrose berries (crushed)**
(1) chamomile flowers

Mix well, place in a glass jar and store in a dry warm place under a heavy cover.***

*Wikipedia sez Leonurus sp. but not which one. Could be Siberian motherwort I guess. What do I look like, an herbalist?

**Is this different from regular rose hips? I don't know.

***To keep out the light, I suppose. Recipe does not say how strong to brew the tea, but I expect they intend you to drink several cups a day, as a Russian would with normal tea.

So here I sit, at home, on Halloween. A long string of things has led to this point, among them the cancellation of several parties, the unexpected sickness of the person who was going to help me make my costume, and so on. I feel like this is my own fault to a large extent, though.

I just want to say to everyone who might be reading this that I'm sorry for being so bad about keeping in touch. It's something I've always had a problem with, and I'm not really sure how to go about fixing it. I could really use a little emotional support right now, as I've been feeling rather lonely lately.

I had forgotten I used to use this journal for more than just posting links and such.
